Local industries tour State Tech and discuss workforce challenges with President Dr. Strong
Linn, Mo. —  On November 26, several area industries toured State Technical College in Linn, Missouri, to explore opportunities for workforce development and strengthen partnerships between local businesses and the college. The visit highlighted State Tech’s commitment to preparing students for high-demand careers in fields like manufacturing, welding, and construction.

Representatives from Shure Manufacturing, GH Tool & Mold, Texwrap, and Sporlan Division of Parker Hannifin, were given an in-depth look at the college’s state-of-the-art facilities, and met with President Dr. Shawn Strong. The meeting fostered productive discussions about how industries and the college can collaborate to address the region’s workforce challenges.

"I was really pleased with the turnout," noted Economic Development Director Aaron Griesheimer. "A strong and skilled workforce is the backbone of our local industries, driving their growth and success. We are fortunate to have State Technical College of Missouri as a key partner in workforce development."

During the visit, Dr. Strong highlighted several building expansion projects due to increased enrollment. In fact, State Tech has seen record-breaking enrollment for six consecutive years, even as college enrollment declines nationwide. “We are committed to providing a high-quality education that equips our students with the skills and knowledge to meet the needs of our local manufacturers.”
